On the Coyle Peninsula, Jefferson County
923 Hazel Point Road
Coyle, WA 98376

14 miles out on the end of the beautiful Toandos Peninsula sits the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center operated by the Jefferson County Parks & Recreation District and the citizens of the Toandos Peninsula, see: www.toandos.org. This facility offers a lovely community room with seating for 50, a fireplace, and a full-service kitchen. It's the perfect place to hear an intimate concert in a beautiful room "at the end of the earth."

Jaspar Lepak

Jaspar Lepak (pronounced Jasper LEE-pack) is a folk/Americana songstress whose remarkable gift for melody is only surpassed by her poetry. Playful, intimate, heartfelt, and intense, her lyrics expose a brave vulnerability as well as an art for storytelling, while her clear, strong voice penetrates the heart. "Singing with the kind of Americana, lullaby ghost of a voice that listeners search for in roots music" (Twin Cities A.V. Club), Lepak charms as she stirs, and her performances pull your heart onto your sleeve and make you want to keep it there.

Since 2004, Lepak has been sharing her songs throughout the Midwest, but from 2009 to 2011 she lived in Durban, South Africa. Performing on some of the country's premier stages, she gained an enthusiastic following. In 2011, she recorded her sixth original CD, FORGIVING WIND. With the help of talented Durban musicians playing the parts of banjo, mandolin, dobro, bass, drums, and lead guitar, the album shimmers "like a brisk west wind rippling over the savannahs" (Duluth News Tribune).

Brongaene Griffin - Celtic Fiddling

with Nancy Conescu and Mike Doolin

Brongaene (Bronnie) Griffin began playing fiddle at age 8 and never wavered. As a child she placed first for her age division twice at the NW regional Old-Time championships in Spokane Washington and third in the nation in Weiser Idaho, while also frequently winning many other first place championships in and around her home state. Raised on Old-Time and Bluegrass her father brought her up hearing the richness of Americana and other traditional styles of music until she met fiddler Kevin Burke whereupon she developed her lifelong love of Irish music. After moving to Ireland she spent ten years honing her skills on perfecting the triplets, rolls and other ornamentation commonly heard in Celtic fiddling, and which sets her playing apart. Bronnie is known for her strident sounding Irish fiddling where her roots sound throughout.

The Gloria Darlings

back again to the Coyle with their new album, "Come Home to Me"

The Gloria Darlings are a Seattle-based female indie-folk-grass duo. An innovative string band like nothing ever seen or heard, they sing bright, vibrant, vocal harmonies to a one-of-a-kind courting dulcimer (one instrument two gals play at the same time)! These young ladies are multi-instrumentalists: fiddle, guitar, and mountain dulcimer. Often-called sirens, their catchy original tunes weave through the crowd. The percussive nature of the dulcimer and tour de force harmony get every crowd smiling, singing along and toe tapping.

Their deep well of repertoire is full of original tunes, traditionals, and folksy renditions of popular song. Influences include Joni Mitchell, The Carter Family, Phil Ochs and Madonna. The Gloria Darlings appear frequently at folk festivals and venues from Eugene to Bellingham, sing backups for Northwest folk legend Linda Waterfall, and perform regularly at the center of the universe, Seattle’s Pike Place Market. A unique little act with a big crowd-pleasing sound!
